Dr Sengupta had his undergraduate education in R G Kar Medical College, Kolkata and achieved his MBBS degree in the year 1993 after completion of internship training from the same institution.  Subsequently he joined DCH course and had his training in Pediatrics and Neonatology at Chittaranjan Sishu Sadan Hospital. After that he attained his postgraduate (MD) degree in Tropical Medicine from School of Tropical Medicine, Calcutta. 

To achieve further training in the field of Pediatrics, he joined National Health Service (NHS) in the UK in the year 2001. He worked in different District General and Tertiary care hospitals in pediatrics all across England and Wales. During his 12 years stay in the UK, he had the opportunity to hold different responsible posts in pediatrics and enrich his knowledge and skills in pediatrics and neonatology. He attained his Membership at the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) in the year 2009. He always had special interest in childhood Asthma and successfully completed post graduate degree course in the subject. Apart from successfully carrying out clinical duties he has always taken active part in clinical governance and completed several audits and clinical guidelines successfully. He also had the opportunity to teach undergraduate medical students and paramedic staffs.
